NRA Releases Statement, Shows More Class than Media

Post by Stephen Eisel »

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Journalism ... -Statement

National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

Mmmmhmmm. In reality, they need time to determine just how they are going to spin this one. Their rationale for perpetuating the advocacy of possession of assault rifles and extended magazines is indefensible.

There should be more empasis on personal choice and responsibility... I don't recall anyone on the left blaming the current admin for the 200 deaths that resulted from Operation Fast and Furious. 200 deaths that were a result of the Gov. literally putting guns into the hands of criminals. The NRA did not put any weapons into the hands of Adam Lanza. This political hi-jacking of this sad event is sickening.

Karen Lanza put the guns in Adam Lanza's hands.

Not unless he forcibly took them.. Unlike the Obama admin that purposely put weapons in the hands of criminals.. But I bet you are not mad Obama.. just the NRA.. how is that working for you?

Stephen -

I never mentioned the NRA nor President Obama. I think you are adding unwanted context to my statement that was not even remotely intended. I always appreciate civil discourse, but please don't put words into my mouth .. or think that you know my "politics."

Karen's decision to make them available to Adam essentially put them in his hands. My guess is that once the psychological profile on Adam is complete, it will more than likely indicate that he wasn't the type to walk into a gun shop and make his own purchase. (chicken shit)

Yes, I did take the liberty of reading your mind (sorry) :D ... I don't understand how someone could own such powerful weapons and not store them in a gun safe with a trigger lock...

The NRA called for an armed cop in every school today.
that seems very big government. and asenine. Did Barney Fife take over the NRA?

Fast and Furious was a pretty conventional sting operation
It would have been in place no matter who won the election,
and accounts for a miniscule portion of the weapons the drug cartels and their flunkies possess.

the basic premise of a sting operation involves providing more and more weapons or drugs to criminals over time to score a bigger fish in their chain of command.

However, this is Mexico: there are millions of guns there, most of them purchased from U.S.Arms Manufacturers or second-hand from the U.S. private sector.

However, this is Mexico: most of the firearms the U.S. gives or sells their police and army end up being used by drug cartel members anyways.
however, this is mexico. thousands of Mexicans die as casualties of the war for drugs there every year. although they are adjacent to us, it doesn't make the news very often.

however, this post was about the NRA recommending every school have an armed guard. Deterrence generally isn't effective on suicide spree killers. all they have to do is wait for the guard to use the restroom or eat lunch. or hit him in the head with a wrench. or run up to some random classroom window with a 100-bullet clip of ammo attached to their semi-automatic rifle.

Armed guards can't be effective at stopping armed wackos... We should take the guns from the cops, the guards at stores and banks, and the secret service... Let's see how the world would work if only the wackos could have guns.

Some people are so afraid of guns they are blind to the possibility that they actually save people everyday.

Let's protect our kids as much as our money in the banks.

The divergence from original subject on some of these posts can be distracting.
Rather than "class," (not your headline,) has the NRA revealed "character"
in response to the issue ? By responding and offering the predictable solution
has the NRA admitted that there might be a problem ?

And just what might that problem be ?

There is a problem and the NRA has not come up with the solution (no character) .
