Initially, I wasn't sure. However, upon further investigation, I found this:

While the reference to "sustainable development" concerned me a little, I found something else that grabbed my attention.

Goal 3: Preserve and improve the efficiency and safety of the existing transportation system, prioritize elements of the system identified as significant and ensure the system serves homeland security.

Nothing says 1984-style government like Janet "Big Sister" Napalitano.

Roy - I'll just note that the highlighted section was added early on during the GWB presidency and long before Janet... FWIW.

Agenda 21 was first agreed to, unofficially, by Bush 41 in 1991 after the Rio Climate Change conference which helped create it. This is not an Republican/Democrat issue. Both sides are allowing legislation and regulation that are wholly unconstitutional.

counties and municipalities have long had various zoning laws to curb or minimize the kind of SPRAWL based growth places like Columbus and the Sunbelt states have been throwing up. It helps reduce TRAFFIC JAMS and the expense of MASSIVE TRAFFIC INFRASTRUCTURE. It predates and exists beyond Agenda 21. It does not repossess peoples property, it curtails their ability to cover it with housing. This is a reasonable use of state, county, and municipal democracy: if they don't like it, they can vote in people who wanna turn the place into COLUMBUS or ATLANTA or HOUSTON or LAS ANGELES type hellholes.

big federal subsidies and cheap credit for sprawl have been the overarching norm for over 60 years. businesses large and small made plenty of profit doing it.

so...Agenda 21 when adopted by states and municipalities is some kind of rejection of big government, eh.
