Hi all,
I know we're nearing the end of the Mayan calendar and all that so I had a brief thought that I was looking at Planet X riding almost on top of the moon tonight. (More like the moon is wearing a clown's hat and the star is the ball at the top of the hat, according to my daughter.)
I came in and looked it up; it's not a star, and it's not Planet X but it is a planet, it's Jupiter.
Here's a quote from the website:
This month's highlight: Jupiter takes center stage.
This month, the night sky is dominated by the giant planet Jupiter. The King of Planets rises in the East in the early evening and remains visible all night long, growing brighter through the month.

I tried to get a picture of it but I can only get the moon. There are probably others out there who can do it-- but this is a really old I-phone.
Really glad it's not Planet X. (Not that I thought it was..)
