poetry, theater and culture, and ex-Lakewoodite Michael Heaton, has read and weighed in
on ex-Lakewood Public Library Director, Lenneth Warren's latest book, "Captain Poetry's
Sucker Punch, A Guide To the Homeric Punkhole, 1980 - 2012, and comes away with a new
appreciation for the era, the player's and a greater appreciation of Ken Warren.

Ken read one of the many pieces about Lakewood in the book to longtime friend and
co-founder of the Lakewood Observer, Stephen Davis.
This whirlwind of a compendium, weighing in at 469 single-spaced pages is both a challenge and a delight. Warren is a blazing intellect whose "high" IQ is matched only by his boundless intellectual curiosity.
These essays bounce around the cultural universe like sparking meteors, including musings and analysis on the poetry of Charles Olson, Simone Weil, d.a. levy, Jack Kerouac, Robert Creeley, Gary Snyder, Ed Sanders, Gregory Corso, Ed Dorn and Cleveland's late poet laureate Daniel Thompson. - Michael Heaton, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Sept. 22, 2012

If you have any interest in the era 1980-2012, and appreciate great writing, poetry,
music, and the fabulous characters of that period of time buy a copy of "Captain Poetry's
Sucker Punch: A Guide to the Homeric Punkhole, 1980-2012," $25 (BlazeVox).
It leads to some interesting conclusions, and one of them is the importance of this area in
the poetry and music scene. That so much came to America's shores from Europe and was
filtered and combined, so that by the time it got to this area, Buffalo, Pittsburgh,
Youngstown, and Cleveland, it had become completely reborn into new structures and
forms. Making this a culture center that is often overlooked, and ignored, though a
massive force in the music and poetry world.
Ken will be back in town November 3, doing another reading at MacsBacks Book on Coventry.
