According to the article: “district treasurer Rick Berdine believes the contract agreement’s salary and insurance components may save an estimated $6 million if the union agrees to extend the contract into an optional fourth year.”
The contract also calls for an eight hour work day. According to the article the contract “ also gave ground on the issue of workday length, agreeing to eight hour work days instead of the seven-and-a-half hour workdays previously asked for.” An eight hour work day? Imagine that, when I called for an eight hour work day people were outraged.
