I didn't have time to write an article this year, so consider this my annual plug for local high school football.
The season starts this weekend. Lakewood's first game is Friday at 7pm at Lakewood Stadium. There will be five more home games after that.
St. Ed's will also have some games at the stadium this year, beginning with Glenville on Saturday night.
The Ranger games are a fun way to spend a Friday evening, and an inexpensive place to entertain your kids.
Lakewood's team will be better this year. They are also in an easier conference, which should mean more wins.

IT’S A RED OUT FOR LAKEWODD HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL GAME
Lakewood, OH - On Friday, September 7, 2012 at 7pm, hundreds will gather to see a match-up between the Lakewood Rangers and the Norwalk Truckers Football teams; however, this year will be a little different. Rather than purple and yellow on one side of the field facing blue and gold on the other, this year there will be RED in the stands to bring awareness to heart disease. During the game, we will honor and remember loved ones while helping to fight heart disease and stroke. Teams, students, and community members are encouraged to purchase and wear a red out event t-shirt to school, to work, and to the game in honor of our loved ones and to support the American Heart Association.
Heart disease kills more people in the US than the next 5 leading causes of death combined - including cancer. This Red Out event, proudly sponsored by Jordan’s Family Foundation, is a great way to celebrate the lives of family and friends we have lost in our community to this devastating disease while helping others.
If you cannot attend the game but would like to show your support, you can log on to http://honor.americanheart.org/goto/lakewoodredout to make a donation in the school’s name. All proceeds go to the American Heart Association.
If you would like more information on how you can get involved, please contact your American Heart Association Youth Market representative at michael.long@heart.org or visit http://www.heart.org.
