The information seems reasonably accurate but....

Is there really no crime in Cleveland Heights?

Is Lakewood reporting its crime statistics accurately while others are not?

What affect does that have?

Why is crime in Lakewood concentrated in Ward 1?

What affect do homeless resettlement programs have on crime?

What affect does the conversion of apartments into halfway houses have on crime?

The Plain Dealer reported that Northeast Ohio will lose about 4.5% of its population over the next 20 years while other metropolitian areas grow by 30% or more. Should the City start taking a proactive approach to housing?

To be blunt: Do we need to spend $50 million or so to tear down 1,000 housing units to better balance supply and demand?

Or better yet: Start are own homeless resettlement program/halfway house program in Bay Village and Westlake?

I like that idea best. After all, aren't we just one happy region?

Of course the best plan of all is to have policies in place that encourage economic growth in Northeast Ohio so instead of losing population we can gain population but the chances of that happening are fat and slim.

Bill

I am not sure how tearing homes down in Lakewood, serves this purpose.

Tear down 1,000 and impact is just 1,000 less units, that can be made up very quickly
with abatements and tiffs in other cities.

When Lakewood City Hall took their eye off of the housing problem during the FitzGerald
administration, we lost the last key.

Now we play catch up, with a tight budget, and not very strong leadership in this area.

it is important when reporting crime to also mention whether the perpetrators/suspects are from Cleveland or immigrants from Cleveland or East Cleveland. Or Tennesse or Florida. and when they immigrated. it is okay; it is not racial profiling.
