Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Police lost and called off a chase of a Porsche Carrera around 3:30 am last night. The
car was being pulled over for expired plates, and the driver a 24 year-old male from
Fairview Park, buried the accelerator, and turned the Porsche into a plane.

Image
He drove down Deroit Extension at high rate of speed.

Image
Where he went ariborne, "The car flew over 100' clipping a tree 35' off the ground,"
said Capt. Ed Hassing.

Image
Landing on the far edge of the bike path, completely clearing the road and grass. This damage
was from getting the car back up the hill.

Where it hit another tree on the left, throwing one of the occupants of the car out.

Coming to rest at the bottom of the cliff.

Image
The 24 year-old driver has a broken back, and his 47 year-old passenger is in critical condition.

Image
Even with airbags it is hard to believe anyone lived through this!

Jim - when you do these kinds of pics, I am reminded of part of the lyrics of Arlo Guthries "Alice's Restaurant" ...

"And they was using up all kinds of cop equipment that they had hanging around the police officer's station. They was taking plaster tire tracks, foot prints, dog smelling prints, and they took twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy photographs with circles and arrows and a paragraph on the back of each one explaining what each one was to be used as evidence against us. Took pictures of the approach, the getaway, the northwest corner the southwest corner and that's not to mention the aerial photography."

Keep up the good work! Brother Arlo would be proud of you!

:D

Kenneth Warren goes through what is left of the accident. Ken stopped in Lakewood
promoting his new book, with much about the psyche of Lakewood in it, and to attend a
founders meeting and board meeting for AGS and the Lakewood Observer

Interesting music taste.
