Something We Could All Use a Reminder of

Post by Christopher Bindel »

So I just read the below article. it is about how sarcasm, snark, and general quick to judge and contempt can harm ourselves as well as others. It makes a point that most people don't even realize how bad they have gotten, but ask that people start paying attention to any time they say or think something judgmental or snarky.

I think its a good read and important for everyone to read. I just thought I would share it here because I thought some might like the read.

Christopher

Nice post, especially at this point.

As always, I do appreciate the reminders you offer on this subject.

Aren't we all.

(even if one does not particularly follow Christianity, we all do occasionally stray from a good moral right from time to time.

I generally stray from the good moral left from time to time!

Quick check per the article on having a problem if y
ou:
Roll your eyes at every "hipster" who, by most accounts, is just a person trying (successfully or not) to dress fashionably?
Primarily complain about how horrible people/things are on Facebook/Twitter?
Get angrier every passing moment that you stand in line at the grocery store, or have to wait for your check to arrive at a restaurant?
Find you're constantly frustrated with coworkers who don't "get it?"
Comment angrily on blogs, videos, and other web sites (usually beginning with "ummm" and ending with "just saying?")
Feel like it's okay to be a complete jerk, as long as you're "witty" about it?

I think they need to add "check your last 10-20 posts on any forum and if 50% or more are angry, sarcasm, putting someone or their views down or attacking, then you have a problem. Everyone can get snarky sometimes but there are people who get off on a power play by putting others down or attacking pesonally on a post instead of the subject, with or without sarcasm. Sarcasm is the worst offender in any conversation though.

Good link Christopher and it would be lovely to communicate in a respectful neighborly manner!
