Who is running the Lakewood Observer?

Post by Corey Rossen »

I logged on early this morning to the Lakewood Observer and lone and behold I noticed the "Unacceptable behavior" by Councilman Shawn Juris topic "thumb-tacked" at the top of the Lakewood General Discussions section. The "thumb-tack" label means that it stays at the top of the screen for all to see, regardless of any posts that may occur afterward, it was even above the COPPA which has been there for years.

Was this the Lakewood Observer's way, O'Bryan's, or Davis's, or DeVito's way of showing their full force and power of their postion to make it clear that Shawn Juris is in the middle of a dispute that could hurt his reputation? And the Lakewood Observer's way of letting everyone know who visits the website?

I saw this as a bully/intimidation tactic and one that attempts to scare Juris into realizing just who has the power in Lakewood. I also see this as a disservice to Lakewood, the Lakewood Observer followers and to ligitimate journalistic practices.

Lakewood Observer - Stop baiting people and then crying foul if/when they give you the reaction you have been baiting them for. These moves are very transparent.

Who "thumb-tacked" the conversation and then who came to their right mind and removed the label? Was this Board approved?

Amateur move. Disgusting.

With the Lakewood Observer, as publisher, as you know, I take full responsibility for any and
all actions done by myself, or my staff.

We have often taken "hot topics" and kept them in the light. This has been used for many
things including some of your posts, and others. If you find that to be an abuse of power
I want you to know, it has been read in in its entirety, and it will be noted.

I would say there are three other ways that would have been an abuse of power, that
would have gone beyond the norm. It could be made as a global post that would have
put it at the top of every discussion. It could have been emailed out as a blast, and could
have been posted to our facebook page. I only took the route that has been taken in the
past many many times, that you have not noted before.

It should also be highlighted that the entire topic and thread including Shawn's explanation
were posted in their entirety along with everyone's comments. So that the thread and
discussion has stayed whole and complete and fair to all parties. So while you claim I
was trying to be unfair, what other route do I have to do what Shawn asked, for the LO
to make his position clear?

Thank you for your comment.

It's pretty obvious, but I'm sure it will be "explained" as "normal"
