We just got home from a great time at Hixson's, where they are celebrating their 40th Egg Show. There was an Psyanky (not sure I have the spelling right) artist there demonstrating the art, and allowing the kids to take a turn.

There have every kind of egg art, including Faberge-style eggs, carved wooden eggs, ceramic eggs that tell stories.

Of course they still have all the cool stuff they always have like their animated music boxes of flying swings, dancing ballerinas, and a full circus show with acts on a highwire. Along with glass jars of old fashioned candy, and the biggest rock candy sticks I've ever seen. (We got a bag of non-pareils, 2 sticks of rock candy, and some Zots, along with a tiny gorgeous ceramic egg which we will add to our Easter decorations, representing Easter 2012.

A great easter eve afternoon.

They will be open later in the week to continue the display for Orthodox Easter.

Hixson's is on Detroit, across the street from Giant Eagle-- the place with the giant Raggedy Anne in the window.
