St. James "Open" For Tenebrae Service

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Tenebrae Service

The service of worship tonight is taken from an early Christian service called Tenebrae.
The name tenebrae is the Latin word for "darkness" or "shadows." Tonight we will
experience only a small portion of Christ's pain and suffering on the day of his crucifixion.

Is how the service started, with a group of St. James parishioners on the front steps of St. James
complete with candles, and PA system! It was a nice small impromptu group that joined for
the Tenebrae Service.

As the service breaks up I had a chance to speak with many of the parishioners. None
we willing to comment on the future of St. James. All were willing to talk how nice the service was.

Tonight, the service was powered by Chrysler, and a lot of love.

What was amazing is watching Lakewoodites leaving the service, just like they have for
decades. Here Brigid Balogh leaves the service with her mother and daughter.

It just seemed natural and good.
