KB Confections coming to old Lusso space on Detroit

Post by Valerie Molinski »

KB Confections and Bakery is coming soon to the former Lusso Salon space across from St. Ed's on Detroit. From what I understand, they will have an area to sit and eat and drink. Very excited to have a bakery on my end of town!

Not sure what their timeline for opening is going to be, but it looks like there might be work going on in the space!

Valerie, this was actually announced at Lakewood Chamber of Commerce's birthday
celebration last year where Karen won for best decorated cake. She had wanted to keep
it quiet while they went through the massive remodeling, so she could have a proper
Grand Opening. Mike announced it last night as new development.

It would seem that you not only get a bakery, but one of the best in the area for
cakes and pies. I would also like to add, that it was KB that made all of the cakes and
pies for Two Dads Diner.

They have a sign hung up outside the building, so I didn't think it was a closely guarded secret by any stretch.

I do not know them personally, but she and her husband walk their dog on my street and I spoke to them a while back. They asked me about the area and the daycare next door- that was when they told me that they were looking to open a bakery in that space, but at that time, were still in the process of working things out with their business itself and the bank. I was so happy to see the sign go up recently as I had not seen them in a while to ask how it was going.

I saw the sign again this morning and wanted to post the good news. Seems like much of the 'development' news coming from my side of town is dubious at best right now.... I just hope they won't consider storing half dead cars in their lot like Calanni might at the Falcone site. (I kid.)

Val

I am talking back then not now. It was great to see you post this. They are both fabulous
people, fun people, and ideal family and business members for this community.

And her baking is just spectacular!

As for Calanni, we shall see what develops. At the end of the day, he is a businessman of
sorts. If he can make money on his property he will do it. If not he will hold it. The city
has had no problem taking Calanni to court in the past so, I imagine they will be on him
yet again to use it or keep it up.

Lakewood has a future, I am sure the next couple years will test our patience but with
good people like you, the Bosworths, and others we will make it through this and beyond.

Observers in 14 other communities. I visit all of them and speak with leaders in all of
them. I walk the streets, and talk with the people, I have never thought of living in any
of them in exchange for my life in the walkable community I love.

Thanks as always for the post.

peace
