Pentecost Evangelical Lutheran Church clarence/madison

Post by john crino »

A little bird told me that the (former?)Pentecost Evangelical Lutheran Church located west of Madison Park at Clarence, was given away and is becoming a "Turkish Community Center". I was told the mayor gave it to the group and it was a "big deal"...but this doesn't sound kosher. Does anyone have the story or did I just miss this whole deal?

I have noticed church buildings going vacant.
it is good to see worthwhile groups finding something to do with them.

Reminds me of the rumor that St. James would be sold to "The Muslims" so that they can blare loud prayer music across Lakewood from the bell tower every day.

Please ask your little bird: how exactly did the mayor come into possession of a church building?

Right. I don't see the mayor being able to "give" anything to anyone. Maybe one (nontaxpaying)church could give it to another (nontaxpaying)enitity for (nontaxpaying) reasons.

This article speaks for itself.

I can't see where the mayor can "give" anything to anyone.
But I welcome this type of reuse for our unused churches and other commercial property.
