Not quite sure where I stand on this or if it matters to me either way, but I have some questions maybe someone can provide their honest opinions on. As well, I am not focused on WHY city hall says they want this, but rather is it useful to Lakewood:
1) How many people posting here have been to Kauffman or Madison after sunset (not just walking through) in the last 6 months
2) Are there currently activities in the park that occur after sunset? If no, what do you "realistically" think people who congregate in the parks after that time would be doing.
3) Do you feel new people who may want to live here would only view parks closing at sunset as a negative, or with the various crimes happening lately in Lakewood would view it as another step in not providing an environment for questionable activities.
I would probably lean more against this possible action if I thought we had the manpower to monitor these areas after dark or at least if they were well lit in the majority of the areas surrounding them. I am not sure that is the case.

Re: City Considers A Change At Kauffman & Madison Parks
(generally speaking) ... Crime doesn't occur where people congregate. Thus, wouldn't we as a Community want to do everything possible to ensure that Our Parks are teeming with activity as often as possible?
