Some of you may recall that I've discussed a number of small-business ideas that I've had for Lakewood. Laser tag...indoor paintball...an arcade. Maybe I didn't mention those last two here on the Observation Deck, but needless to say they were ideas I had and discussed with my business partners.
One of the ideas was a meeting/conference center. I've continued thinking about the idea and what I originally discussed was going to be more expensive than I am comfortable with. So, I'm paring the idea back and morphing it a little bit.
Without going into the details, I'm curious to know if there are any for sale or for lease former bars in Lakewood. I know there are tons of storefronts and one of those might do the trick, but it would require more work on the inside for what I'd like to do.

You know there are several places like that for sale in Lakewood. I saw a few of them on Craigslist. The reason I know is because I have dreams of a building for the rescue, and a few other ideas to throw in there. Only a dream since we do not have the funding for said building. But to answer your question...yes....

Realtor.com, a real estate agent (no charge to you), and Craigslist
or FSBO.com should give you a pretty good idea of what's available.
The Internet is your friend.

One possible complication is that the permit is usually a major asset of the bar. I believe they can sell the building and the permit separately, but I think permits are limited in where they can be used, so a prospective buyer of the permit alone would have to have a location nearby where he could use it. A diner might be as suitable, and easier to buy.

I tried the Internet, just not those particular sources. I figured that Jim drives around town enough to take all his pictures he'd have noticed something.
Will,
I'm not concerned about the alcohol license. I'd actually be looking at an establishment that doesn't sell alcohol. I don't really drink.
