The Steve Davis "Crappiest Threads of 2011" Contest

It's not too late for anyone to jump in with nominations to the list of "The Crappiest Threads of 2011". The top (bottom?) ten threads will be read aloud, in their entirety, from the bandstand at the Burning Monkey Festival.

Steve has already started the contest by nominating the "Holiday Music In Sinagra Park, But Why The Cameras?" thread. See http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10621.

I’ll take a stab and nominate the “I Will Not Seek Political Office in 2011” thread. See http://www.lakewoodobserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=10235.

Both the City of Lakewood and Mike Summers deserved a contested mayoral election.

Jim O’Bryan would have been an excellent candidate who would have forced Mike to engage in a serious dialogue with the City. And, if Mike could have actually beaten Jim, Mike would finally have had a city-wide electoral mandate.

As Heidi Hilty said in another thread:

Heidi Hilty wrote:When do I think we should do something about Jim O'Bryan? Again, never. There would be no Lakewood Observer, no T-Shirt Museum, no Lakewood Motoring Society, no hundred other great ideas from one of the true visionaries of my generation.

If you don't like what he says or how he says it, then please continue to post your dissatisfaction and construct a supporting argument to augment same; that is what the deck is here for.

Wow that was a great thread, the one Heidi's post is in, I never saw it before.

Is this the "crappiest threads" thread, or the thread with the crappiest news in it, like the terrible news that Jim wasn't going to run for mayor this past Fall and we'd have no-one to create a dialogue about the direction the city was headed?

A crappy situation.

I thought what Steve was getting at was that a crappy thread was a crappy example of a thread, like the thread about those excellent cello players which was completely buried under the discussion of Sinagra Park. Though that discussion in and of itself was interesting.

I'm comfortable with either. Though the string players probably deserve another thread.

Or we should have a thread about the best and crappiest things that happened this year.

It is so great that this Deck is a such a complete history of the city.

I'm comfortable with either.

I think the nominees should decide what makes a crappy thread.

I am sure that the cello players can arrange a composition to go with Steve's lyrics.

Hi Matt,

You mean music to accompany Steve's "Shakedown Street" signature? Or do you mean when Steve reads the very most crappiest thread in its entirety at the Burning Monkey festival? I think that should be accompanied by music of some sort, now that I think of it, great idea! (Cat piano? Played by pulling the tails of cats threaded through holes in the keyboard? ((I didn't make that up.)) Would go well with the flaming monkey. Do you know if there will be back-up monkeys this year? We could make a monkey-piano.)

Or Steve could accompany himself on the banjo which I think would be good also.

Okay, well I think the thread you quoted Heidi's post from deserves to be in the Best Threads. I guess Heidi will have to come on and sort that out.

Meanwhile, I am now officially going to post a new thread for the cello players at Sinagra park.
