Harding Wins Fox 8's Cool School

Hi all,

From what I've heard, Harding will be featured on Fox 8 tomorrow morning as their "cool school" of the week. The Fox news crew spent some time filming Harding's own "news crew" and the Harding band earlier this week

The segment is supposed to air at 6:40 a.m.-- in case you want to wake up your middle schoolers so they can see themselves, and again at noon.

Congratulations to Harding, which is having its all school concert tonight: band, orchestra, choir, and Harding singers. Garfield's is next week. Start the holidays listening to our kids play-- it's always better on a school night.

Good morning!

Fox 8 News did a great job of covering Harding. (Yes, we were up at 6:40 am watching.) If Fox 8 puts it online, I'll attach it here later. I'm not sure I've ever watched a "cool school" report before but I was impressed with the amount of time they spent interviewing students and teachers and showing different programs. The Fox crew was clearly impressed with their morning news counterparts, the Harding Morning News Crew, who started their newscast the morning Fox 8 was there by saying, "From deep inside the Promethean Board... it's the Harding Morning news."

Good job Harding and good job Fox 8 News. I don't remember there being a lot of positive news on that show. What a good way to wake up. (Or stay up if you happened to have already been up for hours.)

My dad, Robert Rice, taught music at Harding from 1958-1983. He and present-day Band Director Brian Griebel have, between them, over 50 years of continual music instruction at that school.

Dad was absolutely delighted to see Mr. Griebel and the band featured, as well as the excellent choral program, the great Harding news show, and that stellar hi-tech Social Studies classroom.

Excellence and high expectations have been watchwords at Harding for a long time.

A firm believer in technology, my 91 year-old dad uses and enjoys computers, smart phones, and the internet. Seeing all of these items integrated into Harding's (and the Lakewood Schools) learning environment has been a real joy for him to behold.
