Didn't the City of Lakewood save millions in fire fighter overtime by fighting the unions a couple years ago on staffing mandates? As I recall the union fought the issue quite vigorously.

These are the same staffing mandates in issue 2. They require a certain number of people per shift, truck, etc. Unions use friendly studies during negotiations to show more staff are necessary for safety reasons. And politicians cave because they don't want opponents using that against them in elections. This costs cities across Ohio millions and millions each year for no reason other than to line the union’s pockets and keep the machine going.

Don't confuse what I said above with being in favor of issue 2. I believe things should be negotiated and not mandated. But at the same time, I have little faith in politicians across the state to collectively bargain in the best interest of the citizens.

I believe issue 2 will go down because of the same scare tactics in your link above.

The 'yes' people could have used Lakewood as an example of how staffing mandates are bogus and cost cities millions. On the other hand if staffing mandates aren't bogus, then the 'no' people could have used Lakewood as an example of how lower staff over the last couple years has increased response times and cost lives, as they claim it will if issue 2 passes.

Someone dropped the ball :)

Issue 2 will make our nursing shortage worse. It makes it illegal for nurses, hospital and clinic workers to demand reasonable and safe staffing levels—so nurses will juggle more patients while their salaries and benefits are cut.

If I remember everything correctly about SB5, this statement is at best deceptive and at worst a lie. No salaries OR benefits are going to be cut, but public workers are going to be asked to pay a percentage of their health care instead of it being 100% paid by the state.

I am a public employee and I'm voting for it. Maybe it hurts me a little, but I'm willing to take that risk if it sets this state on a path of financial sustainability. I also favor getting rid of the automatic union-due deduction typically involved with collective bargaining.

I just got a ROBO Call from-----------Pat Boone encouraging me to vote FOR issue 2. This choice of a spokesperson is just so far f****** bizarre that I can't even begin to comment on it

By the way, this confirms my vote NO on issue 2
