Is Rick Perry Dumb?

Post by Stephen Eisel »

http://washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/o ... orce-pilot

In their quest to widen the low-road and increase its rider-ship, the liberal Washington, D.C-based Politico just offered up this hackneyed but oh so predictable headline: “Is Rick Perry Dumb?”

Really? While it’s no surprise to conservatives and independents that the liberal mainstream media would pull out the old “attack Ronald Reagan” hand-book, dust it off, and use its previously discredited assaults to go after the surging Perry, a better question to be asked is: “What are they all so afraid of?”

First of all, something which must be highlighted and stressed by all who care about fairness and accuracy is that Texas Gov. Rick Perry not only honorably served in our military but that he was a decorated Air Force pilot.

At about the same age that President Obama (by his own admission) was trying to find himself and experimenting with drugs, Perry was strapping himself into the cockpit of multi-million dollar Air Force aircraft.

For those on the left who may not understand as many look down upon our military and mock its very existence, getting through flight training and becoming a pilot in the United States Air Force is a very exacting process which actually does take a high degree of intelligence, skill, judgment, and even courage.

Why is the left wing media in this country so closed minded? Do they not realize that their flavor of Kool-Aid has failed?

There are different types of intelligence. The mental skills required to pilot a plane aren't necessarily the same as those needed to understand nuances of policy and affairs of state.

It is natural to want to call someone who vastly differs from you on points of policy dumb. After all, if they were as smart as you, they'd agree with you, right? It's dangerous, though, to underestimate the intelligence and cunning of anyone who has risen to such a place of political prominence.

Perry for certain is anti-intellectual, but I'd never in a million years call him dumb. He's very cunning. What I worry about most with the current crop of conservative aspirants is their lack of depth - they're all very good at mouthing the current conservative dogma, but I've not heard a truly independent thought from any of them.

Karl Rove was one of Rick Perry's first political advisors - now he's on the talk shows calling Perry 'unpresidential'. Why has Rove gone so publicly anti-Perry.

Perry, Bachmann, et al, are playing a dangerous game by playing so hard to the Tea Party radical wing of the party so early. If they're going to keep them energized and excited, they're going to have to come up with new outrageous statements each day, non-stop. Can they sustain the rhetoric without saying something so egregiously idiotic that it turns off the moderate independents? We shall see.

Is Rick Perry dumb?

The short answer is "no".

Is he as smart as other candidates? Who knows? And who cares?

We aren't voting strictly on intelligence. We vote on policy and beliefs. The question isn't "is Rick Perry dumb?" but "is Rick Perry too radical to service the needs of most Americans?"

Some people mislabel that as "dumb" just because they don't agree with him. Personally, I think that of the Republican candidates, he would be the one I would pick to run against Obama to ensure that the Dems keep the White House. If you want a real election where people have to really compare policy and not just social issue positions, the Reps should get Huntsman or Romney. They are more moderate and more likely to challenge Obama on the independents.

if you wanna post a picture of obama in college, post one of Perry in college.
they say he enjoyed wild frat parties, and cherry bombing restrooms.
I hear he graduated with a 2.2 GPA in the "Animal Science" program.
Naturally, that got him a commission in the Air Force.

this is good political analysis of Perry.

Of Course, Perry may be much more intelligent than that. in which case he understands that most of the voters are dumb. so he has to say a lot of dumbth to them. to get their approval.

Eisenhower was the last fiscally conservative Republican President.

Reagan used his hollywood acticing skills to say stuff that sounded cool, but have nothing to do with his policies and actions. Repub front runners been following that playbook since. The Clintons were just republicans with less of the ReaganCraziness. Democrats tend to limit their use of that method to bi-partisan bad ideas: NAFTA, WTO, De-regulating Savings and Loans, invading Iraq, invading Libya, the war on drugs, mandatory minimum sentencing, too many highways.

Is Rick Perry Dumb?

Well, if you go on his college performance at a mediocre school, it appears so:

A person who does not apply themselves in college, and who in fact barely passed, is not qualified to be President of the United States. How can he be expected to understand complex policy issues, economic theories, and the subtleties of foreign relations with so lazy a mind?

Well, we should be fine the next 5 years, because we all know Obama was top of his class at Occidental College, Columbia and Harvard.
...
Oh wait a second, he never released his transcripts so we have no way of knowing how he did.

Tell me, devil you know or the devil you don't??
