Quaker Steak To Be Built

Post by Bill Call »

on the East end of Drug Mart Plaza across from the Library. It's a done deal.

The owners are spending $3 million on the project. They have also paid most the the back property taxes. I'll have to admit I'm surprised. To cover all costs the rents are going to have to be higher than I thought was affordable.

This seems like a strong vote of confidence in Lakewood.

I've also heard that the INA building and Bailey building are almost fully rented. Again a strong vote of confidence in the City.

Now all we need to do is fill all the empty store fronts between Giant Eagle and St. Eds.
I'm reading about myself sitting in a laundromat, reading about myself sitting in a laundromat, reading about myself...my head hurts.

I think it will be great business in that area...and I do enjoy their wings except for the pure fact that they are highly highly overpriced for the size...I still think the Merry Arts has the best wings and they are huge too....

I might step in there for a few beers, but wont be eatting there....

Mark, how could you mention the Merry Arts without mentioning tacos?

Can't believe people are freaking out and boycotting this because it's a chain. Have we turned a corner? :P

Bryan, have not heard about a boycott. One thing to keep in mind, though, Chains, such as QS&L and Winking Lizard, bring in people from outside of Lakewood. That, I think, is a positive thing.

So does Applebees and people were ready to burn that to the ground when it was proposed. I just find the complete lack of consistency to be baffling quite honestly.

:? So true.... I don't think many people have a clue what they want or are arguing for at times.

If I recall correctly, they were not being boycotted for being a chain but rather for their Bike Nights and the motorcyle noise they bring with them. I may be wrong though (don't tell my wife I said that).

Hey look at the bright side, the motorcycles may cover up all the cursing going on at the Kauffman basketball courts.

I wasn't thrilled by Applebees and I'm not thrilled by this. I'm curious how they'll make this fit our architectural standards and lack of space. Most Quaker Steaks are glowing neon green monstrosities in the middle of vast parking lots (Valley View).

Good point to make about the Lube. Is there enough space for people to park in that area. Thats a good idea though....1000s of more people to make driving down Detroit even more tedious...

Quit driving, Lakewood is a great walkable city.
