At 5:30 pm LEAF Community was back in front of Lakewood Library, a sure sign of the
summer coming and harvest season to follow.

The Mars Avenue side was a treasure trove of handmade items and organic food.

Behind the main table was Carol Hunt, one of the greenest women I know and Shawna Hoffstetter, working on her green.

But my favorite was the Organic Lemonade stand being attended to by Hazel, Gabriel,
Julie and Friend! 3 cups of cool, sweet delciiousness!
Quote of the night
Mark and Carol a couple I know because Carol worked in Beechwood with a friend, and
lives out in North Ridgeville now, appeared on the Library porch. I walked up asked how
they were doing since retiring, and after small talk I asked, "What brings you to Lakewood?"
Their answer, "We always come to Lakewood for our fresh vegetables on Wednesday night."
If anyone ever doubts the effectiveness of community farms, and CSA efforts like LEAF,
think about it. People from the farmland coming here to buy fresh vegetables, 13 miles
to buy their share, socialize, and hang out.
To everyone involved with LEAF from day 1, standing ovation.
Can't wait until next Wednesday, 5 - 7:30 Lakewood Public Library.
Be there or be square.
