Religious Riots 3.0 - Jerry Springer & Our Future

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

The Harrants stop by for a quick shot (showing us their tickets), as they prepare to see
"Jerry Springer" The Musical" at the Beck Center tonight.

The group from St. Louis was also back with some regulars, and it was amazing to spend
time with all. I have more photos and an amazing story to upload later, but time for dinner,
stay tuned...

I am sent to Hell, I meet some Irish Brothers, run into some cool people, and see a trend and
a way for us to build a stronger future.

You bet. Took almost 300 photos today for a bunch of deck posting this week!

Here is a shortened versio you can see int he gallery.

Image
Driving down the street headed home I notice we have another religious riot at the Beck Center!

Image
I spot Beck Center President and CEO Cindy Einhouse, Thomas Mulready and a Beck Board Member
having lunch at The Rush Inn.

Image
This time they brought a band!

Image
This is the leader of the church and the only one who is allowed to speak for the group! Hmmmmmm
Sounds vaguely familiar. I waited to interview him but after my first question, "What did you do with
the $7 million you raised last year?" He would only talk to media that didn't ask questions. Hmmmmmmm?

Image
You would think with all of the money they bring they could leave the school bus behind and get some
travel coaches, or buy a church locally, did I mention to you cats we have at least 4 for sale?

Image
I know it seems as far fetched as hitting the lottery. But maybe we need to bring bacj the RPDBGFP,
and get some flags going. We need to make this the home of meaningless non-stop protests against
things that do not matter. Book them into the Jose Mesa Hotel...

Image
Just as I was grooving on the idea of this being the home to unstable rioters, Some guy came up with
his pocket video camera and a bunch of lights and said... "Do you believe in free speech?" Well thinking
he was one of the "real media" at other websites by the look of the equipment. I said "Sure, for both
the protesters and the Beck Center and the arts." I mean I had convinced myself this was our future. Then
he starts telling me how "I will burn in Hell for all eternity." I try to explain that in most semi-real religions you have
to be more than a video dude to send someone to Hell for all eternity. While I argue if he has the
power to send me to Webb Market for even a pack of cigarettes or gum. He assures me he speaks for God.
As I ask for proof two of the leaders of the church come up and assure me, "He is not really stable, and tends
to get overzealous at times. That he will not harm anyone. All I could do was laugh and say, "Well yes that is
obvious." But how long has been the leader of your group? They assure me he is not the leader, "The leader
has the megaphone, and will talk when he is done with prayers. They take me over, and he starts reading
prayers again waving me away! Damn! I have this effect on pseudo-religious leaders of groups.

Image
It was about that time Thomas Mulready of Coll Cleveland.com read the first of my many tweets, and
headed up to cover the riot.

Image
As I drove by and saw the candles, it just reenforced the idea. These low scale riots could be a
real brand builder and money maker. Just think, we could sell them street banners to let us know
when they are coming.

Image
Like reverse parades, where the spectators drive buy and look at the "floats" and displays on the curb.

That protesting looks like hard work, I hope someone was nice enough to offer them a nice glass of Kool-Aid.

hey! if all the equipment is still there, can we re-open the Detroit Theater for a special week long "Monty Python's Life of Brian" marathon? I love that movie...

Actually, early on I blamed it on Paul Sykes at the Beck Café. Last time they were in town Paul gave them some
free coffee, which started off one of his best nights ever. I was thinking it was like feeding cats. Feed them once
you now own a cat. But then it occurred to me, we could turn this into a huge plus.

One of the biggest problems with the RPDBGFP was "What if the Nazi's put their flag up their?" Well now we
know, The Shore has a great day, and maybe we get something more than hookers at the Jose Mesa hotel.
I think the flag pole is in front of City Hall. If not, it might be worth the money to reinstall it. We send out a
press release that we are not afraid of FREE SPEECH and that Lakewood is the center of FREE SPEECH and
peaceful protests in America.

From there it should be like shooting fish in a barrel. Whatever that really means.

When Jerry gives you lemons and lemonaide it is time to ride it to the bank.

I am personally bowled over by those red sashes! I wonder if they're reversible, you know green on the other side for St.Patrick's Day?
