participated in the American Lung Association “Climb to the Top” at the Terminal Tower in
Cleveland. Their participation and fundraising contributed to the Associations efforts to
save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. With generous support
from family, friends, and IAFF Local 382 the Lakewood Firefighter teams were able to raise $2324.00.
All firefighter challenge participants climbed 42 flights and a total of 804 steps while
wearing full structural personal protective equipment including their self contained
breathing apparatus. To put this in perspective, they climbed approximately 60 floors of a
residential building. Lakewood Fire teams took all top three of the firefighter challenge
team spots. In addition, they had the top two times in firefighters under the age of 40 and
the top four times in firefighters over the age of 40.
All of the members involved should be commended for their dedication to physical fitness
and their work in supporting the American Lung Association. I am proud to be
represented, and protected by such dedicated members of our public safety forces.
Go Team Lakewood!
