Lakewood City Council should have a Governmental Affairs Committee. Such a committee would represent the interests of the people in negotiations over this change in law. You can be sure that the government unions will be at the table. How about the people who pay the bills?

The State is about to blow a hole in local government, library and school funding. If the State does that without major changes in collective bargaining agreements cities and schools will suffer.

At least two of Lakewood's government unions are demanding more, much more. Time is running out.
