The 8/24, 8/27 and 9/1 meetings all have one thing in common: the employment of a Public Employee. Is the BOE hiring 3 people or fast-tracking one person? Or are you firing someone?

Charlie,

The details of executive sessions are intended to be kept private which is why the Ohio General Assembly allows political subdivisions to recess out of open session to discuss such issues.

As an aside, the Board now has a process for evaluating the Superintendent and Treasurer at least annually. The need for these evaluations and the processes for the same have been discussed in open session on numerous occasions over the past year (at least). Both the Superintendent and Treasurer welcome and encourage the Board to perform its statutory evaluation obligations. Because these evaluations and the processes should be more than cursory, the Board will be having numerous special meetings over the next school year in order to reach consensus among board members.

At our August 27, 2010 special meeting, Channel 8 and a citizen were in attendance, which is great. Channel 8 was at the meeting to cover the property matter. The citizen was at the meeting thinking there was a public comment section.

Please note that there will not be a “Communications” section on the agenda for tonight’s special meeting. Communication sections are in our regular meetings.
