Interesting Field Trip

This past Saturday I was running around on the east side checking out things Lakewood could use and heading back we saw the first of many Ed FitzGerald signs on the eastside.


Many more Edward FitzGerald signs than any other candidate.

Then we turned up Coventry and found out just how much our sister city of Cleveland
Heights and their business district is like ours!


There is a Chipotle on the left and on the right...


A Crazy Mullets!


A Winking Lizard.


And a Phoenix Coffee.

Right around the corner is a Gepetto's too. Maybe it was the fact that our CDC/EDC copied
Future Heights that makes the cities so much alike.

Coming home we stopped at another place we could use and a perfect way to end a field trip!

I'm glad you took photos and pointed out the similarities. While driving, all I could see was flowers and artwork.

There are no CoventrY signs. I don't know how people find the place.

Funny you brought that up. Shared coffee and a cookie with Observer Sean McDermott, who was also a
driving(?) force behind DowntowN signage. Nice guy, we spent a couple hours discussing many things
and I think finding much more common ground than divides.

He explained why somethings are not happening as fast as we would like. I look forward to his posts
on the deck, and more conversation.

One quick point of clarification on your fourth similarity Jim- Pheonix Coffee. While Root Cafe does still serve Pheonix Coffee, I think it is only fair to give credit where credit is due to Julie, Bobby, and the rest of their crew. Root is a wonderful example of how Lakewoodites are thinking outside the box and keeping a piece of Lakewood's image uniquely...well...uniquely "Lakewood" in the most positive sense of the word. And that will never be copied by any CDC in Coventry or otherwise.

I am a huge fan of the organically grown and beautiful Root Cafe, and outlet for Phoenix Coffee.

You are also more than aware of my opinions of renting, borrowing, erecting a faux market as compared
the the organically grown, and equally beautiful LEAF Community.

I would also like to throw in a plug for the Crino's vision of bela dubby, and Paul Sykes marvelous Beck
Cafe (though he would be much better served using Phoenix Coffee).

The stuff that comes together organically, is a ton better than the big box. Which is why those that worked
so hard to bring in the Big Box stores hang out at the Root, the Melt, Aladdin's, etc. I think they summer
from a Donner Party complex, of self destructive nature.

But hey, that is just me, what do I know about starting organic projects?


PS - You really did a wonderful job on this edition of the paper.
