At about 5:45 tonight while I was with my two younger at swim lessons I got a call from a friend who happened to be driving past my house and noticed 3 older teen males in my driveway and thought it just didn't look right. Sure enough I called home to my teenager who looked out back and noticed his bike was indeed gone.
I quickly got off the phone with him and called the police dispatcher, who put me on hold and came back couple minutes later to tell me that they had the kids in custody. Turns out my neighbor saw the kids go into my backyard and take the bike and immediately called the police. So within about 5 minutes of the incident happening the kids were apprehended and my son's bike was recovered.
I have had minimal contact with the police in the 14 years I have lived in Lakewood but each and every time they have been awesome to deal with. I am just so impressed with not just the quick police response but also my friend and my neighbor. People looking out for each other, that is the Lakewood I love.
Thank you Lakewood police

Danielle,
And thanks to your neighbor for getting involved. Neighbors watching out for neighbors working in concert with a responsive police department is so critical in keeping our neighborhoods safe.
