You mean like "Highland Avenue", instead of "W. 117 St.".

Steve,

Any update on that project?

While the design of the signs are done, we are waiting for our $71,000 sign study to be approved,
then we can have a meeting for people's design, and roll out what we have had all along.

I believe it is called Lakewood style.

As for the dogpark, the trial continues all week possibly.

But I cannot see the ending any different than the first. It also occurred to me as I went back
and looked at photos, where they want to move the park is right next to the tree the bald eagle
and his mate sit in during salmon season. And the grass right behind there was the scene of at
least one egret nest. Egrets come north to bred then head back south.

Who knows.

Big salmon, trout, bass and other game fish. But along the edges there are tall grasses, and
pools that both hawks, cranes, heron, egrets, eagles, kingfishers, etc work all day long.

Rocky river is repeatedly stocked with trout, bass and salmon. In the spring on low water days it
is just amazing what works up those small sets of rapids. And the birds of prey line up.

The Emerald Canyon is actually pretty wild when you stop and just wait and look.

We have peregrine falcons working the area as well that next with owls under the bridges!

To move the dog park to the flood plan or grassy area would border on criminal.

Although the area isn't really a "Bald Eagle habitat" (they just pass through on occasion) and Egrets are rare in this part of the MetroParks (much more common by the islands and sometimes winter in the area opposed to returning south), there is a huge diversity of wildlife down there.

Some of the wildlife down the hill:

Beautiful photos, Joe, esp. the heron w/ catfish, and the kingfisher with some smaller fish. And the sandpiper in the middle of his ripples is nicely composed.

All this wildlife in our town, what's not to love about this.

Stunning Joe, just stunning. Good reminder of how lucky we are and not to forget our blessings.

I love to go down and just sit quietly and watch the show down there.

Joe,

I've done a good deal of photography in my day, so from one photographer to another, let me say that you have some of the greatest wildlife photos that I've ever seen. I wish that you might put them on exhibit- possibly at the Beck, or even make some prints available for sale. I think that you would do well.

Joe

Thank you for sharing.

They are just wonderful images, and one of the many reasons I love being near the Emerald Canyon.

Of course this thread, and this project and the people that jump in is one of the reasons I love living in Lakewood.
