Detroit ROAD? He must not be from around here. Speaking of Greek restaurants, the Greek Village on Madison makes a great gyro. Does anyone remember Plaka? They were in Lakewood on 117th by the tracks, in the old rr station where Dianna's now stands. That was a great restaurant.

I am betting that it was a hastily made sign... and the sign maker took certain liberties that could not be correctly swiftly enough?
That said, I've only lived here a few years now and do not know the history of Niko and his restaurant, but my impression of him and his businesses there are that it's kind of schizophrenic? Hot and cold?
I understand that food service and restauranteuring have a certain amount of feast/famine periods and turnover, but wow...
I'm thinking, in that location, and given the market in terms of tastes and prices, Niko has to thread a mighty fine needle here. I think there's opportunity, but it has to be genuine and be very responsive to an increasingly more sophisticated Lakewood restaurant/entertainment audience.

The standards for Greek food in our area is set by two church festivals: the Annunciation festival in Tremont on Memorial Day weekend, and the Saints Constantine and Helen festival in Cleveland Heights in late August. And, although I've only had their gyro, the Greek Village has set some pretty high standards themselves. Anyone considering opening (or reopening) a Greek restaurant would do well to sample the food at these places.
