Beck Café - Nice Patio, nice place

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Was out walking today and as I was going past the Beck Café I saw another Lakewood
media mogul, sitting in the sun, enjoying a juice, and realxing. Being in the media
business offers huge amounts of time doing nothing, just relaxing and discussing the
meaning of life, as the Greeks did 2,500 years ago. I thought I would join him in
the sun at the Beck.

So I stopped and we talked.

Both of us are huge fans of Paul Sykes and the Beck Café. Paul has worked wonders with
the space, and his improvements in the cafe and at the Beck are truly amazing. He
deserves a proclamation or something for the time and money he has spent making the
Beck Café such a nice place to get a coffee, ice tea, or sandwich and sit outside.

I love the fact that we have four really good home grown coffee shops in town

Besides the Beck Check out -
bela dubby - on the eastside, owned and operated by Lakewood's Crino family. Good coffee,
good beer, good art, live entertainment most nights

The Root Café - DowntowN locally owned and operated by Julie and Bobby, with good
coffee, good art, and really good pastry, and Vegan food, live entertainment many nights.

Black Bird Baking Company - far west, with good cookies and bread.
