The mayor spoke to the group that had gathered and underline not just how important
Lakewood's Fire Department is, but how well all city services preformed this past week,
under circumstances that were tough at best.
The new Assistant Chief Darren Collins spoke of how he is proud to serve with the group
he has come to call friends and family.
It was immediately followed by a party of family, friends, and other members of the
fire department.
The festivities started late as the crew had been pulled away for a fire just prior to 3pm.
