I'll do better than that, Stephen. I'll imagine Republicans suggesting an individual mandate to buy health care coverage.
How is it that Republicans thought mandatory coverage, credits to cover those who couldn't afford it, and exchanges to govern the marketplace were the solution in 1993 and the end of Western civilization in 2010?
What's next?

Re: What's next?
Is anyone else tired of democrats being democrats and republicans being republicans? For 8 years, democrats fought tooth and nail against anything republicans wanted to do. They had 180 degree opposite views on everything. If Bush said the sky was blue, Pelosi and crew argued the opposing view until blue in the face. Now the shoe is on the other foot, anything the dems do the republicans take a 180 degree stance, even if they suggested the same thing 16 years ago. What a crock of BS! Reminds me of little kids playing together!

Let me clarify, opposition for the sake of opposition is BS.
Opposition because someone up the food chain says it will be good for your career is BS.
Opposition because you truly disagree and have a better alternative is fine with me.

I think you are living in a dream world. The objective of any politician is to obtain and maintain control. If they do anything to better the country, it is done as a means to convince us to reelect them. Many things that should be done to benefit the country (such as reining in spending) are not done, as it would open them to a challenge at the next election. That is one of the arguments for term limits, as someone who cannot be reelected will be free to make some of the hard, unpopular choices.
So as it is, if your party calls, you answer, so your party can maintain control, or weaken the other party's control.
