A perfect Saturday

Post by Justine Cooper »

I usually hibernate when it snows, but last Saturday I spent the day on Detroit and had one of the most enjoyable Saturdays of my winter. I usually frequent Madison businesses since I love the services and owners but wanted to check out the new restaurant "Two Guys Diner". It was such a pleasant experience-really positive energy, polite and pleasant staff, very good comfort food, and a really nice change. I love that two local dads own it too!

Then my companions and I walked the area and perused the "Ecclectic Mix", Deja Vu, and the second hand store on the corner (sorry blanking out on the name). All were pleasant experiences with warm and inviting owners and unique shopping experiences. We ended our day by driving west to Designer Consignor where I always find new season clothing at a fraction of the cost. And as always, a warm and friendly owner and clerk and a large donation to Cinderella's Closet of beautiful prom dresses for girls less fortunate. (Thank you Molly).

Last week was east Madison at the Coffee Pot after lessons at Sillhouette, perusing the shops on that strip and the new nicely-done Beshe-classy second hand clothing for children and bath and body products. Next week is western Madison which always includes Goddess Blessed!

I realized again how you do not need to leave Lakewood for a girl's day out, a date, or family fun. I also realized how taking out of town guests to these unique places impresses them. All the new development talk will never top what we have, our little gold mine.

I want to thank the business owners for providing Lakewood with that, for taking the risk and putting in all the hard work to make Lakewood what it is!
