President Obama visits LCCC, January 22, 2010.

Post by Ivor Karabatkovic »

A wild day it was.

I arrived at Cleveland Hopkins Airport to cover the landing and welcoming of US President Barack Obama. It was chilly, but the press made it out alive and with some nice images of the airplane and the President arriving to town.

Upon getting stuck between all the roadblocks that surrounded the LCCC campus and not being able to find a immediate way to get to the college to cover the town hall, we quickly learned that the President was having lunch down the street and the motorcade was going to pass through at any moment:

Here's where the madness began. We began walking the streets and decided to make the 3+ mile hike to the college, a hike we probably couldn't have made in time to meet the press entry deadline. What's the opposite of walking 3+ miles on a chilly Cleveland day?

A personal police escort through downtown Elyria and 3 miles worth of security checkpoints by a Sergeant:

Anyway, after a very stressful and exhausting day, here is the coverage of today's Town Hall meeting with President Barack Obama.

Enjoy!

Outstanding coverage under virtually impossible conditions!

Many professional photographers would be fortunate to get one or two mediocre photos of an event like this.

I'd say you have a dozen or more outstanding "money shots" here.

You really nailed this event, hands down!

Great job!

Your photos are just spectacular. I am always amazed at just how good your stuff is.
No wonder the White House Press Corp love you.

Gary

I agree, but I also know he has had many good mentors, like you.

Ivor, thank you for everything you have brought to this project and city.

It is always a pleasure.

PS- Ivor forgot to mention that at 10:45 Air Force One flew directly over Lakewood!

Those are great pictures, Ivor, really cool stuff.

The best part of the whole event is that my best friend since 6th grade (I have spoken of her before) was "Jody the Electrician" that introduced the President. It is was of the funniest twists of ironic fate ever. She was honored to do it...and to rub it in a little :D

Stan

It is truly amazing. 4 years ago Ivor was begging me for contacts, and media credentials. For this,
Ivor had all the juice. Everyone, I mean everyone on the Presidential Staff knows Ivor. It is truly
amazing in a wonderful way.
