The Lakewood Ranger Marching Band played at (LHS Grad and generous donor to the Lakewood Alumni Foundation) George Read's house yesterday. Another generous donor -- Gale Staten Nolan (class of 57) --- lives near Mr. Read and was there as well. According to Teresa Andreani, everyone was choked up when the band played the alma mater.

Re: Lakewood Ranger Marching Band in Dallas TX
Thanks for reminding us about the magnificient Lakewood Schools' music program, and in particular, the Lakewood High School Ranger Marching Band! From their trip to Europe and throughout Canada in previous years, to the sunny skies of Texas, these days, Lakewood musicians continue to be exemplary ambassadors for our great city!
Thanks to the band, the chaperones, and to Director Brian Maskow, for achieving yet another milestone in the history of the Lakewood Ranger Marching Band.
And of course, thanks to George Read and everyone, everywhere, who has shared in, or helped out with, the magic of the LHS Ranger Marching Band; and/or with other aspects of the Lakewood Schools' music programs.

Teresa Andreani sent this link to a news story out, district wide, but I don't think it's been posted here. This kind of generosity is probably more common among alumni of private schools.

What a wonderful story. Mr. Read has been such a blessing to this district, many thanks for all he does for the music programs here in the city.

I think it's awesome that the music program has opened the doors to the world for many students. I hope their journey in music and life doesn't stop upon graduating High School. I hope this plants a seed in their hearts and they continue to nurture it until their dreams come true.
Mr. Read has done a great service and impacted many lives, and one day these kids will remember how a kind man granted their wishes by an act of kindness, and they will also engage themselves in giving as well.
