PLEASE READ-Burning Monkey Festival Canceled!

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

I hate to report that the Burning Monkey Festival has been canceled.

To many talkers, emailers, blogging, facebooking, loose lips, etc.

Got to many calls from too many people I do not know, nor people that anyone else
connected with the event knows or have even heard about. Location got out, and
even the owners of the Winton Place threatened to sue us if we threw anything burning
off their building. I tried to reason with them, told them the story, explained
how badly treated the monkeys were being treated by the lab we got him from
and they still got mad, and well, stayed pretty unreasonable. I mentioned the good luck
associated with the event, no go, so please do not show up. My lawyers, after hours
of conversation with me and them have asked me to post this.

I am sorry that it seems to upset so many people. I would ask all to think of the very
small handful of people that enjoy this, and asked their closest friend to join them. But
I am sure someone would tell me that that is selfish to ask an entire city to respect the
wants and desires of a few. So I am sorry, but it is a no go.

PLEASE LET EVERYONE KNOW IT IS CANCELED.

PS- This means it will not, I repeat it will not be at location B just before midnight.

Jim,

Got it. Not at location B, just before midnight.

Without the monkey drop at location B, will the Burning Monkey Festival and Cotillion Ball still have the Cotillion Ball? Have the plans changed for that? I rented a tux (monkey suit) for the Ball, but it would be a long walk in the snow from where we aren't dropping the monkey to the Cotillion location. Don't want to pay extra for a weather damaged tux.

Please advise.

Steve

Phil after learning he has to go back to the lab.

Please note, there will not be activity at location B.

Cotillion Ball will still be had, and there will be no buses taking ball goers to
any other events.

Quite a nouveau Halle reinterpretation of the Higbee original. I do think that the shoes could be May Co in that they will be covered up and any snow damage would suggest discarding them.

Now I have to go back to my "Make a republican buy me lunch" project.

Gosh darn it.

Have you approached Parma about this?
