Lakewood High School Model United Nations
Congratulations to the LHS Model United Nations Club for its' outstanding performance at the recent Cleveland Council on World Affairs Model United Nations competition. Competing against the likes of schools such as Solon, Rocky River, Laurel Academy, Mentor, Shaker Heights, St. Joseph's Academy, Western Reserve Academy, Hawken,Hudson, etc., LHS received the most awards of any school, including five out of eight awards for Superior Delegation. Students receiving Superior awards were: Sarah Spiece, Michael Yee, Alex Neidert, Grant Colvin, Kelsey Solarz, Alberto Rodriguez, Kyle Kukaucik, Jimmy Matthiesen and Ryan Cleary. Students receiving Honorable Mention were: Brian Brink, Danielle Curran, Una Bobinac, Annie Latsko, Kris Hilla, Maureen McGregor, Jared Melnyk and Fred Groce. All 25 participants competed with integrity and were exemplary citizens at the conference, showing genuine happiness for the success of their peers. Special thanks to our student leaders- President Alex Neidert, Vice President Alberto Rodriguez and Secretary Sabrina Cupach--for their hard work in preparing for the conference. Finally, Garfield Middle School Social Studies Teacher Mr Joshua Thornsberry once again volunteered his time for some invaluable training and simulations. We would not have done as well without his help.

Congrats to all the students. They should be proud of how well they did. It's always nice to hear about the great things that happen up at LHS. And it's wonderful to see teachers going above and beyond with their students.

Wow! Kudos to all involved! It is really incredible to read such success like that! It bums me out though, to know that if this was a negative thread there may be four pages by now, but when a post about high school students here in Lakewood and their teachers go above and beyond to blow away the competition (some that have a better repuation) there are few comments.
Thank you for posting the postives about Lakewood youth. It is refreshing and worth much pride!
