Leave it to CNN to be one of the only media sources to bring up his religion, but not the way you would expect. Rather than asking if this could have been a homegrown radical muslim terrorist attack CNN turns the table and claims that he was the victim. If he was a victim of a stereotype he picked a hell of way to stop it, give in to stereotype. Now more people will believe that the muslim religion is full of hate and vengeance. Thank goodness he passed out the koran on his way out, spread the love...

Re: Fort Hood Suspect not to blaim, he was a victim...
every news story I've read mentions the Fort Hood shooter was muslim.
but so what. i'm sure there have been seventh day adventists who have gone on shooting sprees. Some people who who are both crazy and big Ted Nugent fans are eventually going to go on shooting sprees. there are crazy people in the world, and if they want to go on shooting sprees Texas is the best place to get the guns.
The shooter was first and foremost a disturbed guy who finally went nuts.
It happens all the time. every few months you'll read about some enlistee who shot up his family or shot up his fellow soldiers.
in the 1850s some Americans ran on platforms of trying to outlaw irish immigrants and banning Catholics from holding office. some of them were elected. they had plenty of newspaper stories of irish laborers getting liquored up and crazy on their day off.

Genocide?
You talking about Bush's policies in the Mid East again?
200,000 Iraqi innocents dead because 7 Saudis flew a plane into the World Trade Center?
Now that is genocide.

As usual JOB, you are confused. The WTC terror attack was the reason for the war in Afghanistan. The reason for the Iraq War was 17 failed UN Resolutions and 11 years of Saddam playing cat and mouse with the UN Weapon inspectors.Jim O'Bryan wrote:Stephen Eisel wrote:making Genocide seem so normal, thanks for your special spin Ryan...

Nidal Hasan was born in Virginia. He is a Virginian.
We do not identify the Sept 11 terrorists as Saudi Arabians, Dubaiins, or United Arab Emiratians. "muslim" is enough.
We do not identify Timothy McVeigh as a Roman Catholic, Registered Republican, Registered NRA member, Bronze Star U.S. Army Gulf War Veteran, Star Trek TNG fan.
Accused Serial Murderer Anthony Sowell isn't branded as a decorated United States Marine.
Al Capone isn't often prefixed with the words "italian" or "catholic".

The big difference being (for example) Tim McVeigh's primary motivation had nothing to with Christianity. It had a lot more to do with Tim being an anti-government radical.

A senior government official tells ABC News that investigators have found that alleged Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan had "more unexplained connections to people being tracked by the FBI" than just radical cleric Anwar al Awlaki. The official declined to name the individuals but Congressional sources said their names and countries of origin were likely to emerge soon.

the guy obviously became more unhinged in recent years.
Timothy McVeigh had the luxury of not being a total outsider. at least in terms of his national identity. when he went on a big anti-government bender, it was with some kind of sense of patriotism. In this he was similar to Randy Weaver: two white guys who only thrived when they had government jobs as members of the Army. After that they flounder around for a while, become fixated with guns and whether black people are getting treated better than they are. Guns are like Drugs and cars that can go faster than the speed limit: they are fun, but a lot of people get deaded up via them.

Are you saying that people from Virginia are outsiders?
