This is off the subject mostly but Jim, couldn't you and a few of us help put together a bowling or other fundraising event for Missy's organization? My heart truly goes out to those dogs and to her family for what they do. Two of my sisters devote much of their time in CA to cat rescue and I know of the vet bills, etc.

Instead of the next LO get together, I bet something can be put together through casual bowling or higher end Rozi's with a certain percentage going to her animal rescue and silent raffles which generate significant income.

By December people will be itching to get out of the house. Just a thought.

To my knowledge the Lakewood Observer has never turned away a non-profit, especially
one dealing with needy people or animals. It was one of three reasons the Lakewood
Observer was created. I wanted to help non-profits, Ken wanted to create open honest
dialogue over great ideas for Lakewood, Steve wanted to help the schools.

All of the Board, and founders at the early meetings, had grown sick over the lies
and misinformation that had come earlier from the WestEnd Project. The original
group was made up from people on all sides of that issue, but realized that the only
way to move a city forward was OPEN HONEST DISCUSSION,and a central place
to hold that discussion, where their only agenda was TRANSPARENCY, and RESPECT
for those that live and work here. We knew the conversations would get hot, but
at the end of the day, the conversation, would provide the foundation for better ideas
and days ahead for EVERYONE.

While I can no longer promise for the Lakewood Observer, I would be willing to help in
anyway I can, and I do believe have mentioned this to her. I am sure the founder of the
Spooky Pooch Parade, Rhonda Loje is already thinking up some ideas.

Thanks for bringing this up.

I never get tired of saying it.

PS - 100% would go to Missy's group, and/or any animal rescue agency that joins in,
and maybe a little more!

I always have ideas and would love to help!

I agree (as I have said many times) the proceeds should all go to the animals.

Missy let us know what is good for you!

I'm in too, as much as pregnancy, mothering small kids, and grad school will allow. My grad classes are done for the semester at the beginning of December, maybe a pet photos with Santa or something? I'd be happy to donate my time and equipment as a photographer and could recruit backup in case I'm ill.

I think we could sell home baked dog treats (there are lots of good recipes) to participants after the event, at a dog wash or pet beauty pagent for Missy's group. I will definitely bake for that or anything else to help Missy out since I dropped the ball on donating to the garage sale.

And dog bone cookies for the kids...mine think that is hilarious.

Even though this thread has drifted....the flow is for a good cause :D

I am so sick of the back channel whiners trying to run this town.

Today, someone showed me an email from one of the city's loneliest, constant whiners.

Besides a bunch of absolute worthless drivel was a comment that the term "cult"
was unfair. This is just ignorant.

cult
1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as
manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.

3 out of 4!

What really makes me sick is that I made the comment in public, where I can be
held accountable for my words and my actions. These attacks on me, were back
channel behind my back, where I would have ZERO chance to defend myself and or
clear my name.

When will these people get it?

When I see people not willing to engage in public, it is usually because they have
something to hide, or to afraid to take ownership of their comments. This person
claims to be a leader.

Hardly.

They had in the shadows because they are vampires Jim.

They suck the life out of us and our town.

Time for the peasants to rally.

Oh my gosh I couldn't get on my computer for a couple days and was so happy to read all the people wanting to help with a fundraiser for Missy. Can we set a time and place for initial planning meeting? What abou a Sunday afternoon?

No need for a fight.

No reason to split the community.

All we need is accountability.

Take public money.

Set public policy.

Transparency, and accountability

Would be nice

as they are supposed to be helping

and serving all of us.

and

It is the law!

That is what is insane.
