Shout out to Designer Consignor!

Post by Justine Cooper »

Cinderella's Closet gave out about 400 dresses to girls in every nearby community this past spring for the Prom and had less than a handful left. Before they could even pack up the few, Designer Consignor (on Detroit) was calling with large bags of gorgeous gowns-many with tags-to donate. The local shop has donated several that were worn at last year's prom.

One of the nicest clothing consignment stores around, people come from all areas to buy or consign and Molly has several hundred consignors. Not only is this a "green" shop, buyers get amazing deals, sellers get to clean out closets and make money, and all clothing that does not sell gets donated to local shelters.

This store is a win-win-win-win for Lakewood so please patronize!

Justine----sounds like a great success, buy-- I wonder , is there another location on the male side?

Specifically, a guy has his eye on a girl who is the light of his dreams. He wants to ask her to the Prom but he knows that all that that entails, maybe he can't get the super tux he'd like.
Shouldn't there be a place where the guys can go and get the tuxes so everybody can celebrate their well deserved accomplishment.?

I wonder what tuxedo rental places do with the tuxedos once they reach their life expectancy. I would imagine they would still be useable. It would be awesome if some of them would be willing to donate them to a worthy cause such as this.

That is a good question Stan, especially since the guy is often expected to pay for two tickets and then flowers. I was actually surprised to see how much flower shops charged for one bouquet of one or two flowers-the cost of a dozen roses sometimes.
It is harder for the guys since tuxes are rented but the people who took over Cinderella's Closet are definitely aware of the need and are working on solutions, including getting donations. We brainstormed on other ideas like getting dry clearners to donate a cleaning so dresses can be used again and hair salons donating an updo. They also have been getting donations of shoes and purses.

My brother took a girl to the prom twenty years ago who came from a very broken and low income family. She wore my dress (which I sure would never wear again) and without could not have went. Many girls coming to get dresses are really in need and hopefully there will be some help for the guys soon!
