Change of Electric Supplier

Post by sharon kinsella »

I just received a letter from the Illuminating company telling me that either I or my community have selected Gexa Energy as my new electric generation supplier.

The letter said that my community may have formed an aggregation group and this company may have chosen me.

What in the world is this about? Of course I picked up my mail after 6 today, so it's too late to call these people. Does anyone know what this is about?

Sharon

Lakewood is part of NOPEC. NOPEC has a contract with GEXA to supply electricity.

Who decided on this? I don't remember voting for this.

It was voted on years and years ago. NOPEC mailed a postcard out to all residents about 2 or 3 weeks ago allowing them to opt-out if they desired. But, as the law was passed, if you don't actively opt-out every 2 years, the you are included i the aggregation program.

Thanks Bryan, I didn't get a postcard. I guess I can call them if I decide I can get a better rate after looking into it. Then again, I may be moving to the Westerly and electricity is included there, thank heavens.
