Well it seems that I am not ammune to my dogs getting out. This morning, Lucy decided that she no longer wanted to stay home. So this morning at about 8:40 I get a call from a WONDERFUL lady who states "Hi. I am at St. Ed's and I have your dog." WHAT?!?!?!?! How did my dog get out? She never gets out, she broke a runner AND thru the invisible fence to get a stray cat. (she would never hurt a cat, she loves them and just loves to play with them!!!) This is also the same girl who ran thru the center of a chain link fence, the center of a wooden fence to get at critters. There is nothing that will stop her. Now she is depressed as she is back on leash patrol with no more than 3 feet from my side.

Thank you to the wonderful woman who grabbed my dog from the middle of the street. Thank you for keeping her safe and for calling me to let me know you had her. I am forever in your debt!!!!

And I will never again walk away from the front porch to get a refill on my coffee. LOL.

That's good news at least. Our cat got out in April, be he came back, they very next day, just like the song.

I keep asking myself "why dogs? why didn't i stick with fish? seriously, that has to be easier and quieter." AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I keep fish and although it might not be quite as stressful, like anything, if you do it right, it can be quite a bit of work. In any tank you should do 20% water change at least weekly, so in a 55 gallon tank your looking at a little over 10 gallons a week. And you can’t just take it out and dump new water in, nope you have to use a siphon which cleans debris out of the gravel as it takes water out, to make sure that the bacteria levels don’t get screwed up and kill the fish. Then before you put the water back in you either need to let it sit for 24 hours or treat it with chemicals. And this doesn’t even get into quarantining, acclamation, treating disease and breeding. They are quieter though. No barking fish, although you do have to deal with the constant hum of the air pump and the trickle of water from the filter.

Ok that sounds like a ton of work. I have one tank now with 3 goldfish in it and so far that has been enough to keep me going, but now that I think about it, if I had more I would be insane. AUGHHH!!!!

But it amazes me that my 8-9 year old girl, severe arthritis, the start of cataracts who is a momma's girl thru and thru would even attempt to run. She barely can walk as it is now, but to just run. Gives me hope that there is still some "spunk" in there.

My husband and I were talking last night about when she escaped attached to an anchor that could hold up to 3000 pounds, and she took off with it and broke it. This was right when we got her from the pound and she was a runner. Always able to get her but she wanted nothing to do being tied up, she wanted to go. Broke thru the fences and everything. Got invisible fence (much to my dismay as I hate the thought of "shock" to her as she is my baby but pulling chain link fence out of her face and eye was enough to change my mind) and she never left. Almost 3 years to the day we got this fence, and she left. Even being held with a runner on the front porch (because I knew the house cat was outside and I just wanted to keep her close by me while I had my coffee). Thank goodness though she LOVES people and LOVES to be by them. And loves cars. Loves to go on car rides just to go on them. But she is spayed, up to date on all her shots with a great tag on her collar that can't come off (www.fidofinder.com has great tags that don't hang on the collar like regular ones, it actually attaches to the leash and doesn't come off. 8 dollars and it is the best investment I have made to date).

I love our Furminator! I use it on my dog and cats. When I am done, I can build a whole new animal out of what I have 'harvested.' Be careful not to over-furminate, as you can wind up with a bald spot... one of my friends found this out the hard way on one of her cats. Not bald, but too thinned out!

Thanks. I have to bring out the good camera. I think they're very cute and they have recently been behaving like little angels, so I know they must be plotting.
