A Tip Of The Hat To Lakewood Police

Post by Jim O'Bryan »

Yesterday a friend of mine was out riding on their mountain bike, and they
stopped to purchase a pack of smokes at a Deli(now we can argue the value of this
act in another thread I am sure).

They ran into the deli without locking their bike(now we can argue the value of
this act in another thread as well) came out and their bike was gone.

After looking around they spotted a police officer in front of Sullivan's(can we
please not go so quickly to the Irish cop bar joke) and told him their tale of sadness.
He was said to have taken great notes on the bike, the stickers, the license, etc.
and said, "We will see what we can do but..."

Myself being Irish, and seeing this as a perfect opportunity to drown sorrows suggested
a beer across the street at Bela Dubby where they have that fine "Brooklyn Ale." They
accepted, chain smoking the entire 1.5 blocks.

Deciding it would be far better to find the thief and the bike and kick some ass, then
have the beer. We drove all over looking for the bicycle. You know, over in Cleveland.
I mean let's be obvious, people who steal bikes take them back to Cleveland. I think
all Lakewoodites know that. Well after 3 hours, of looking everywhere we gave up
and went our separate ways.

Getting back to the office there was a message that the police had found some punk
16 year old kid, taking stickers off the bike and it was returned.

Good job Lakewood Police.
