You are all over the map on this one, though. Cornhole? Meals on wheels? I feel like I need a decoder ring to read your posts anymore. :P

Valerie

Let me boil this one down for you.

City making cutsto balance the budget.

The city cuts a great many social service programs.

Do we feed seniors? Meals on Wheel.

Or underwrite cornhole tournaments,
bars are already having?

Long hard week, sorry.

Please someone tell me, clearly, what Jay Foran has to do with hamburgers.

Also, regarding senior services, I had two conversations with people rather well-connected yesterday. Unlike Mr. O'Bryan. I wont name-drop, but the message was clear. There's no money! Either you pay a little more, or expect a little less.

Dee

Thank you for making my point. NO Money. So how much do these things cost the city?

As you are "connected" but obviously a much better person for not name dropping,
how much are banners? How much are the under writings of the groups that had "Cornhole"?
If we are to count every penny as Bill Call and you often call for why do we not
start with the easy stuff to cut/audit and see what the payback is?

If it is as tight as you say...
Senior services, or city sponsored Cornhole in the parking lot of Around the Corner,
that stages pretty damn good cornhole tournies on their own. Meals on wheels for
seniors or...

What does Jay have to do with burgers? Well the answer would be nothing until Team Neo
who Jay works for, gave LakewoodAlive a Jay run product an award for bringing 5
guys burgers to Lakewood. I am not the one that put him in as the burgermeister, he is.

I am sure that is impressive to you, but how impressed would you be if AGS gave me
publisher of the year. Well we know the answer to that don't we. You would be all over
me as a fraud. Of course the difference would be at least I was a publisher!

Am I seeing a pattern?

And to think I looked at this thread expecting to find out about IHOP.

So does anyone know why it's closed (other than the fact that it wasn't exactly a local favorite)? Or do we just have to read through an unrelated series of posts that most Lakewoodites can't follow anyway because we don't 'move in the right circles'? I'm curious about why the "Five Guys" building isn't complete yet too, but facts are more helpful to me than names I don't know.

So IHOP? Anyone? Any official explanation?

Nutshell:

Five Guys- not completed yet because they have other stores that needed to be opened first. They have a list that they go in order on and the other ones needed attention first to get opened- Lakewood had to wait its turn. The Lakewood site is now in construction.

HAHA you might think that. If I had to guess I would vote for a combination of poor service sub standard food and a generally crappy economic outlook.

I went to the IHOP website last week and put in a question about why the Lakewood location closed. Here's the response I received:

Dear Mr. Page:
Thank you for taking the time to contact IHOP. This IHOP location closed because the Franchisee chose not to renew his Franchise and Equipment Lease.

Thank you again for contacting IHOP.

Sincerely,

According to the Cuyahoga County Auditor's website, the land where IHOP is located is owned by a company calling themselves "D. Ethel Limited" with a tax mailing address of Liberty Development Company in Westlake. They are current with property tax payments. I don't know if they are the franchisee or just leasing the space.

My friend's father contacted IHOP central or whatever the chain is called a few days after the one in Lakewood closed. He said that they didn't even know that that location had been closed at all. And the sign on the door was really abrupt saying to workers "if you missed the meeting, we're closed now". Kinda harsh and cold.
