Sign up for Discounts on Electric Generation Service, Enjoy Free Food, Games and
Entertainment, Tour the Plants
Akron, Ohio – Find out what goes on behind the scenes when you flip on a light
switch or turn on your computer at a free Open House and Community Pride Day
Saturday, July 11, from noon to 3 p.m., at FirstEnergy’s Ashtabula, Eastlake and West
Lorain power plants. Visitors can tour the facilities and enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn, ice
cream, funnel cakes, nachos and beverages.
Representatives from FirstEnergy Solutions (FES) will be there to assist
residential customers of The Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, Ohio Edison and
Toledo Edison who elect to sign up for discounts on electric generation service. These
customers can save 10 percent on their electric generation price for the remainder of 2009
and 5 percent through 2010. The first 300 to sign up at the event will receive a free FES
stadium blanket. Open House guests can also enter a drawing to win a year of free
electric generation service from FES. FirstEnergy employees are not eligible to win the
drawing.
Kids can enjoy free activities including clowns and face painting. Those who
attend also will receive an energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulb. Supplies are
limited, so come early.
At the Eastlake Plant, Majic 105.7 FM’s Chip Kullik will offer guests a chance to
spin the Majic Money Wheel, and visitors can get their picture taken with Louie the
Lightning Bug® and Sully the Seagull, the Lake Erie Monsters mascot. Louie the
Lightning Bug® will also pose for pictures at the Ashtabula Plant.
