New Commuter Rail Service Through Lakewood?

Hi,
I was thinking about it and I made a mistake with my math. Sorry, I was counting the train traveling just one way. But we all know it needs to go both ways. So, depending on how frequently is ran (each way) we could potentially double that number of trips the train would take through Lakewood to 152. I'm not sure that would be physically possible. So, then you cut down frequency of stops and it becomes less desirable to potential riders.

Pardon the pun but this train through Lakewood idea is just a train wreck.

The Blue Line has no trouble going all the way through Shaker Heights, at a relatively low frequency (15-30 minutes). This would not cut Lakewood in two, assuming it's a typical two-car train like every train in the current transit system that we have. This is not the same thing as a hundred freight car train coming through town. Having said that, a line down the middle of a boulevard would work better. It would have a high capital cost initially, but compared with initial and maintenance costs of roads, it would be competitive.

Three Public Meetings Hosted to Discuss the Westshore Corridor Transportation Project

GREATER CLEVELAND – Lorain County, Lorain County Transit (LCT) and the Westshore Commuter Rail Task Force (WCRTF), in cooperation with communities in Lorain County, Erie County and Cuyahoga County, will hold three public meetings to introduce people to the Westshore Corridor Transportation Project (WCTP) and solicit valuable feedback on potentially developing a public transit-based solution for the transportation needs of the Westshore corridor—one of the most heavily used and traveled corridors in Ohio. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings. Meeting details are listed below:

WCTP seeks to address the lack of public transportation options for travel in this popular metropolitan region. The need for improvements is based on several factors including limited public transit options for inter-county travel, highway traffic congestion, the need to increase economic and sustainable development along the corridor and the need to enhance and preserve the natural environment with all the potential enhancements along the anticipated public transit corridor.

I went to the Cuyahoga county public meeting last night. It wasn't very well attended, so I recommend taking the survey below. Results will influence the direction the contractor takes in the study!

Forget rail, 'light' or otherwise. We can't even keep a bus line.

Here's another.

Run the light rail system underground and free up some surface space in this very crowded community. We could even add some trams for interconnection, and make some streets pedestrian only. That should increase foot traffic to the merchants, and give the thousands of tourists who will be coming here because we are so cool a place to promenade.

How about we run the rail through any blighted and foreclosed properties so we can knock them down.
