Since the Observer is one of the last groups in the parade, and the parade steps off at 10AM, Observers mill about for about an hour (if they arrive on time).

In recent years I have walked with one group, walked back to the beginning, changed my shirt and walked with the Observer.

The parade is long, so participants gather from Kenneth, all the way west on Edgewater to Webb, and then sometimes the groups snake up Webb a bit.

Resurrecting this thread because the 4th is this Saturday!

I would love to meet up with fellow lakewoodites at Lakewood Park, or anywhere in Lakewood, after the parade. I have never walked in the parade, and I don't know if I will this year- I like taking photos of it.

If anyone has any ideas, post 'em!

Ivor,

You have just underscored one of the main reasons that I left quite a bit of the world of photography so long ago.

See, I just got tired of recording someone else's action.

I wanted to be a part of the action.

And so I was.

Not that you should leave your calling, of course.

But....

Yeah, you should, at least once in awhile, anyway.

Get into the action of life. Sometimes, at least.

Unfortunately, I don't think that Dad and I will make the parade this year.

Enjoy it though.

You might not have to walk, however. Jimmy may have a few options available for you.

You can do what I'm doing and watch/ take pictures of the parade, and then join LO once they reach you. Then once at the end you can continu photographing the last few things in the parade. This will also allow you the option to take pictures along the entire rout of the parade. Just a sugestion.

So is there anywhere LO people are meeting after the parade? I thought I read in here earlier that there was supposed to be a gathering after the parade somewhere in Lakewood Park.

Well it looks like I am going to have to pass on this fun event this year. Patrick (my oldest) was admitted to the hospital yesterday and we are not sure when he will be home. Probably in about 2 weeks.
I hope everyone has a great holiday and enjoys the after party from the parade.

Hope he feels much better, soon.
