SUNDAY WITH THE FRIENDS : Thunderwalk Jazz Duo

Two guitarists from the Akron-based ThunderWalk Jazz Quartet will mix classic jazz standards with ballads, swing music and some original compositions for an earthshaking afternoon.
2 p.m. in the Main Library Auditorium

MONDAY, JUNE 15

Local Filmmakers Series

Join us for a series of short films from the most available local filmmakers as we search for the next great Ohio auteur. Many of the directors will be available for a question and answer session at each show.Tonight's film is Saints in the City: The Life of Poet Laureate Daniel Thompson.

TUESDAY, JUNE 16

Knit & Lit Book Group

Knitters, crocheters, cross-stitchers, and needlepointers are invited to keep their hands and minds busy with this special book club for the incurable bibliophile. Nimble-fingered moderator Lynda Tuennerman encourages you to bring in your own suggestions for future reading and needlework projects. We’re an eclectic, all-inclusive group. Tonight's book is Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.

FIVE STAR FILMS: Humoresque

Directed by Jean Negulesco NR Stars: John Garfield, Joan Crawford, Oscar Levant Glamour and grand performances define this sumptuous black and white production that boasts a spectacular soundtrack. In hopes of boosting his career, a gifted and ambitious young classical violinist allows himself to be patronized by a rich, alcoholic socialite. The relationship turns romantic. While his career soars, she sours on sharing him with an adoring public. He refuses to be treated like one of her possessions. A showdown ensues.
