ASHLEY SUMMERS

The search continues for a 15-year-old West Side girl who has been missing for more than a year. Local and federal law enforcement officials are asking for the public's help in finding Ashley Summers, who was reported missing from her West 96th Street home, near Madison Avenue, on July 6, 2007.

Ashley is considered an endangered juvenile be cause of her age and the length of time she has been missing, authorities said.

FBI spokesman Scott Wilson said there is no indication of foul play, but it is possible she is being held against her will.

The task force is working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Va., Wilson said.

Ashley is white, 5 feet 5, 130 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. She has a tattoo of a heart on one arm with the name "Gene" inscribed on it.

Anyone with information regarding Ashley, or other fugitives, is urged to call the Cleveland/Cuyahoga Fugitive/Gang Task Force at 216-522-1400 or the Cleveland Police Department's 1st District at 216-623-5118.

The identity of callers will remain confidential. Reward money is available.

Where is Ashley Summers? by James Renner

If sheâ€™d been a cute young little girl from a rich suburb, youâ€™d know her name. Sheâ€™d be all over the news. Maybe even on Nancy Grace. But 14-year-old Ashley Summers was from the near-West side of Cleveland, from a ramshackle house on Holmden Street where the lawn has been overrun by little kids and dogs.

She was reported missing July 6, 2007. The local media regurgitated a press release, but didnâ€™t bother to speak to the family. Itâ€™s been a year or so since I spoke with Ashleyâ€™s relatives. The information I discovered was passed to the FBI, but so far she has not been located and no one has been arrested for her abductionâ€“if thatâ€™s what this was.

According to family members, when Ashley disappeared, so did all her clothes. At first, they thought she had run away, but when she did that before she always came back the next day. This time, she didnâ€™t come home. She had a boyfriend named Gene, but he hasnâ€™t seen her either, they say. A month after she disappeared, Ashley called home and said, â€œmom, Iâ€™m okay. Donâ€™t worryâ€

I read this thread and thought what if these were my kids or friends or neighborâ€™s kids. How horrible it is to hear of any missing child.

My 5 year old son is in his second week of his radKIDS class at Lincoln. They teach kids how to be safe instead of just telling them to be safe. Iâ€™ve been to both of his classes and Iâ€™m amazed at what and how they teach the kids.

My wife signed him up through the Early Childhood PTA. I believe you can also signup through Lakewood Recreation.

The US Department of Justice recently reported that in a one-year period of time (1999): 1,682,900 children ran away. 203,900 children were abducted by family members, 198,300 children were involuntarily missing, lost or injured and 58,200 children were abducted by a non family perpetrator including an estimated 115 victims of stereotypical kidnappings.

One-man Crime Spree May Now Be Linked To High-profile Disappearances

Eric Wilson, known on the streets of Cleveland as "Big" or "Big Willie," is best known for starting the gunfight that killed 12-year-old Asteve'e "Cookie" Thomas in September 2007. But by the time Cookie was murdered, Wilson already had a long history of kidnapping young women from the West Side and transporting them to the East Side, where they were raped and held captive. Victims came forward when they saw his picture on the news after Cookie's murder, and last fall he was convicted of four counts of rape and two counts of kidnapping. He's currently behind bars awaiting yet another rape trial.

As the search for mis-sing 15-year-old Ashley Summers continues, police and FBI have begun to wonder if Wilson was somehow involved in her disappearance. She left an apartment on Holmden Avenue on July 6, 2007, and has not been seen by her family since. At that time, Wilson often crashed at a house on Holmden, just a few doors down from where Ashley was staying. Ashley's disappearance was first treated as a runaway but is now assumed to have been an abduction, possibly connected to the more well-known West Side kidnappings of Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus, according to investigators. In a surreal twist that speaks to the progress of cheap technology, Ashley's story was "tweeted" by Ashton Kutcher and M.C. Hammer last week. UPDATE: Dynasty has returned home. According to her mother, she hasnâ€™t said much about where she was. But it appears this is a runaway case. Glad sheâ€™s OK.
